Festival of Uttarakhand- " Phool Dei"

Phool Dei is one of the important festivals of state of Uttarakhand. It is celebrated in the Hindi month of Chaitra (around15th March to 15th April). 

Some people say that this festival welcomes the arrival of spring, but some says it marks the harvesting season.

On this day, children take small baskets along with them, these are filled with flowers, and they wander in entire village and offer flowers at gate of every house and elders people give some amount of rice and express their best wishes for happiness. People's common slogan to each other is -

"फूल देई, छम्मा देई,

देणी द्वार, भर भकार,

ये देली स बारम्बार नमस्कार,

फूले द्वार……फूल देई-छ्म्मा देई

आप सभी को फूलदेई की हार्दिक शुभकामनाये"

This festival is symbol of unity, prosperity and happiness of the state. But people with modern thinking ignoring their incredible cultural spirits and have lesser enthusiasm to celebrate such awesome occasion.
